Microblading for Beginners

Microblading is a highly sought after treatment where pigment is inserted into the upper layers of the skin to create fuller and more shapely eyebrows.

Wiltshire Aesthetics Academy offers a comprehensive 4 day course which will arm individuals with everything they need to know to begin creating brows utilising Microblading techniques. Trainees will be taught all aspects of the microblading process, this will include an in depth discussion into colour theory and skin tones to give trainees the knowledge they will need to understand pigmentation, and how to select pigmentation based on their clients skin composition.

Following this trainees will observe their tutor demonstrate hair stroke techniques before they are given the chance to practice using practice pads as well as viewing several live demonstrations of brow techniques before their practice on live models can begin. Following trainees completion of 10 models they will be able to complete their final assessment, upon successful completion they will be awarded their certification.

Trainees will also be taught aspects of treatment and business practice alongside the practical elements. This will include consultation and aftercare prior and following treatments as well as into detail about best practices in the working environment, this include health & safety, licensing, correct clothing, how to deal with disposables, as well as aspects of Anatomy and Physiology.

This course is certified by the ABT to ensure that all students are trained safely and legally to the highest level in-line government guidelines.

Course Details

Day 1


  • Introduction – The Tutor will introduce Microblading and show examples of work. As well as outline to the content of the course for following days.
  • Health and Safety – The Tutor will test trainees on best practices for the working environment with regards to health & safety, correct clothing, disposables and licensing.
  • Anatomy and Physiology – The tutor and trainees will then use the home-study booklet to review A&P, then re-test trainees as necessary.
  • Contra-indications – The Tutor will describe all contraindications, and explain when a client is not suitable as well as when a doctors note is necessary.


  • Equipment – The tutor will discuss all equipment needed to perform procedures such as power, then also detail equipment that is specific to treatment such as tools, blades, disposables and camera.
  • Colour Theory – Aspects of the basic colour wheel, and importance of pigment choice will be explained.
  • Skin Undertones – Following on from Colour Theory, the Tutor will discuss skin undertones and explain how skins colour and undertones must be taken into consideration when selecting clients pigments.
  • Pigmentation – The Tutor will explain pigment composition, acceptance and migration.
  • Hair Stroke, Pattern and Grip – The Tutor will explain hair stoke pattern and grip. Trainees will be able to use paper to make notes. The Tutor will also demonstrate on paper in-front of students and on whiteboard.
Day 2


  • Hair Strokes – Trainees will have a final chance to practice on paper, the tutor will observe and instruct the trainees on hair strokes as necessary.
  • Practice Pad Work – Trainees will now begin using the tool to practice hair strokes on practice pads.
  • Eyebrow Design – The Tutor will go over step by step of brow mapping; trainees to practice on each other. Worksheets will also be provided with a break down.
  • Consultation and Treatment Plans for skin types and conditions The Tutor will explain how to carry out the consultation and set expectations when working with challenging clients such as individuals with alopecia.
  • Aftercare – The Tutor will explain how to provide detailed aftercare
  • Complications – The Tutor will detail what complications can occur, how to deal with difficult situations, and how to correct errors.


  • Live Demonstration by Tutor –12:00 – 2:30PM Hair stroke
  • 2:30PM – 5PM Hair stroke
  • Trainees will be able to see two complete treatments, including consultation, brow mapping, machine work, H&S practice.
Day 3


  • Work on Live Models – Trainees will complete a supervised brow treatment from start to finish. This must include consultation, brow mapping, the treatment and aftercare. Students must always adhere to best practices for Health and Safety.


  • Work on Live Models – Following lunch Trainees will continue to complete supervised brow treatments from start to finish. This must include consultation, brow mapping, the treatment and aftercare. Students must always adhere to best practices for Health and Safety
  • Review – The Tutor will summarise teachings from the day and give the trainees the opportunity to ask any questions.
Day 4


  • Assessment 10am – 1pm – Students will have completed portfolio of 10 models prior to assessment day. Students will perform a treatment from start to finished supervised by their tutor. If successful they will gain a pass. If not another assessment day will be arranged and a catch up session.
